Fully carry out education for all-round development  Actively establish harmonious campus
Donghai Foreign Language School, invested and established by Nanshan Group with 500 million yuan, is a modern boarding school. It is established with 5 departments of Kindergarten Dept., Primary School Dept., Junior High School Dept., Technical Secondary School Dept. and Golf Sports Skill Dept. There are 10000 students at school. It occupies a land area of 1000 mou, construction area of 300,000 m2 and it is one of the schools which are the largest in scale and the most advanced in equipment in the country at present.
The school has the most advanced modern distance education satellite information network, KM campus network of high performance, multimedia language learning system in the country. In classrooms, it is fixed with projection facilities of 150 inch large screen. There are also 15 independent multimedia language learning classrooms and 26 computer classrooms. In respect of facilities for science and technology education, there are 2 science and technology centers, 2 astronomical observatories, 38 various labs and 14 science and technology activity rooms. In the aspect of facilities for art, PE and culture, there are 2 international standard all-weather playgrounds with 400m plastic runway, 1 gymnasium, 1 swimming hall, 36 standard basketball courts, 24 volleyball courts; in the music and art building, there is an art exhibition hall, 25 various art rooms, 32 various music rooms, and 91 pianos; the school has a collection of 200,000 books, and has a electronic library including 400,000 famous works at all times and in all countries. In respect of facilities for life service, there are 6 canteens and 11 restaurants. On the campus and in all classrooms, it is fixed with closed-circuit monitoring system. All the classrooms, dormitory and halls are fixed with central air conditioner. The student dormitory is of standard room with a toilet and each is fixed with a telephone for parents to communicate with students. The school carries out “closed” management.
Since establishment, the education concept of “moral education is the basis for student to become a useful person” and scientific and standard management of the school are recognized by the society, students and parents. Meanwhile, it is also the experimental school of “research on integrally constructing harmonious moral education system” by China National Institute for Educational Research and the experimental school of class research topic of “harmony and efficiency, thought dialogue” of Yantai.
With the support of all walks of life, the school has made great development. The Kindergarten Dept. is successively named as provincial demonstration kindergarten and Peking University preschool education demonstration kindergarten; the Junior and Senior High Schools are named as “Advanced Unit of Education for All-round Development”, “Demonstration School of Education for All-round Development”, “Green School” of Shandong Province, National Advanced Unit of Art Education, National Advanced Unit of Moral Education, and Science Popularization Activity Base of China Juvenile Academy of Sciences; the Technical Secondary School also is named as “Advanced Unit of Imparting Knowledge and Educating Students of Yantai” and “Advanced Unit of Social Power School-running of Shandong Province”. It was granted as “Advanced Unit of National Vocational Education” by the Ministry of Education in 2002, approved to be a national key technical secondary school in 2003 and a national common technical secondary school in 2004.
